Welcome. My name is Christopher and this is my blog.

I love tech, but don’t have as much time or money to spend on it as I’d like. I get what I need to sustain my Geek vicariously through other sources. Ever since we got our first computer, they’ve interested me. Over the years, that interest has grown and provided the foundation for my collegiate studies and aspirations for the future.

What does Astro-Geek:3000 mean? Well, there are three parts to the name that represent three very strong aspects of my Geek.

• Astro – From the Greek astron, meaning “star,” the prefix is most often used when referring to outer space. Astronomy has long been an interest of mine, ever since I used to stay up late and catch various astronomy shows on PBS. Space, the cosmos, fascinates me in its vastness. Astro represents imagination and limitless possibilities. Infinity.
• Geek – While the term geek still carries a bit of its pejorative history, in recent years it has become acceptable to apply the term to anyone who has a passion for a specific topic. For example, there are tech geeks, film geeks, music geeks, sports geeks, costuming geeks, food geeks, etc. My sphere of Geekhood falls mostly in the computer-related technology category. Geek represents order and logic. Control.
• Astro-Geek:3000 – The title as a whole is a play on White Zombie’s second (major label) release, Astro-Creep:2000. This album was a revelatory, life-changing experience for me. I won’t go into details here, but suffice it to say that Astro-Creep was very instrumental in changing my outlook and perception of the world around me. It represents the weird, the beautiful, the nonsensical shadows, the Chaos and Order; all that come together to form Me.
